What is Chemical Erosion Short Answer
A When exposed to harsh weather, some minerals tend to break down. Granite, a hard igneous rock, consists of mainly three minerals — quartz, mica and feldspar. These are quite tough except for feldspar, which breaks down into clay when it is continuously washed by the rain. Once the feldspar breaks down, the rest of the minerals fall loose and the granite disintegrates. The beaches in granite areas sparkle with quartz and mica sand.
